Scale your startup sustainably | Introducing the Scale-Up Navigator
Scale your startup sustainably | Introducing the Scale-Up Navigator
Today marks a new chapter in our mission to support the best founder teams in Europe with the release of the Scale-Up Navigator, a book penned in collaboration with Dietmar Grichnik from the University of St Gallen together with researchers Manuel Hess, Michael Greger and b2venture partners Andreas Goeldi and Florian Schweitzer.
We’re going beyond the work we’ve done on our Startup Resources site, which covers the basics of everything founders need to know at the beginning of their journey, to addressing how fast growing companies or “scale-ups” can manage sustainable growth over the long-term.
The Scale-Up Navigator supports founders, employees, investors, mentors and other stakeholders of scaling start-ups in their sustainable scaling. The book is based on a clearly structured, iterative process that was developed based on decades of industry knowledge from venture capital and the support of over 350 companies and ten start-ups with a valuation of over USD 1 billion often referred to as Unicorns.
We combine this experience with insights from research and present them in a reader-friendly way. In this way, readers can develop a better understanding of the various challenges involved in scaling their company and master them better. These include, for example, the evaluation of sales growth options, the scaling of the employee team and the implementation of efficient organizational structures and communication processes.
The book contains structured scaling frameworks, best practices, digital tools, and compelling case studies, including examples from our portfolio such as 1KOMMA5°, DeepL, Ledgy, Raisin and SumUp. A huge thank you to our co-authors, the University of St. Gallen, and our community of angel investors, for this important collaboration that unites the best academic research on startups with practical experience from real, high-growth companies.
